Murray R. Chapman

Murray R. Chapman, 82, of South Haven died Monday, September 13 at Ely Manor in Allegan.

He was born July 22, 1928 in Ludington, Michigan to Raymond and Ota (West) Chapman. Murray attended Farris State University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Murray married Theresa Koller on July 7, 1973 in South Haven. Murray worked as a welder in underwater construction for 25 years retiring in 1983. Murray was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church where he was a Knights of Columbus member. Murray was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Murray enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all of the activities at Ely Manor.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Theresa Chapman who died in 2008. Several brothers and sisters also preceded him.

He is survived by two daughters – Diane (Thomas Warren) Byrd of South Haven, Michigan and Loretta (Gary) Ruff of St. Augustine, Florida. 3 grandchildren – Susan Groves of St. Augustine, Florida, Tricia Schupra of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Jason Byrd of South Haven, Michigan. 6 great grandchildren – Chelsea, Katelyn, Elijah, Cameron, Carleigh and Hailey. 2 brothers – Jerry (Jean) Chapman of Traverse City, Michigan and Raymond (Marian) Chapman.
