Nettie Mae Buckles

Nettie Mae Buckles, 89, of Lawrence, Mi died Tuesday, September 7 at home.

Mrs Buckles was born June 25th, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama to Charles and Nettie Mae (Whitlock) Herring.

Nettie Mae worked at many jobs including a nurses aid, a security officer, clerk in a clothing store and was the owner of her own restaurant in Lawrence. Among many other things she was the President of the Opera Club in N. Ft Myers, Fl, was the President of the Woman's Auxiliary of the VFW on Pine Island, Florida, was a volunteer phone person in a battered woman's shelter and volunteered work time in a church sponsored second hand store.

Nettie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Martin Dusek, who died in 1980, and 4 siblings. She is survived by her older sister Janie Ruth Pries, 5 children, Selina Jean Hall of Poulsbo, Wa, Charles W. Dusek of Lawrence, Mi, Richard L. Dusek of N. Ft Myers, Fl, Guy M. Dusek of Port Charlotte, Fl and Michael A. Dusek of Naples, Fl. Nettie Mae had 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
