Janet Jane Christie

Janet Jane Christie, 57, of Covert died Wednesday, December 23 at home.

She was born April 21, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to Leonard and Rosie (Rice) Brunt. Janet graduated from Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois. Janet married Morris Christie on June 21, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Covert, Michigan. When she was in Chicago, she worked at the Post Office as a clerk for many years. She worked as an advertise assistant for Swing Company for 10 years. Janet then worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier for 5 years, she also worked as a Tax Preparer.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister – Joanne Brunt

She is survived by her husband – Morris Christie of Covert, Michigan. One son – Hollis Barry of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Three daughters – Adeline (Tony) Sutton of South Haven, Michigan, Charlene Brunt of Lawton, Michigan and Mary Ann Barry of California. 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Two step-sons – Marcus (Alayna) Christie of Boomer, West Virginia and Willie Wilson Jr. of South Haven, Michigan. One step-daughter – Chaka (Allan) Payne of Chicago, Illinois. One brother – Leonard Brunt Jr. of St. Louis, Michigan. Six sisters – Betty Stanford of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jaqueline Potts and Evelyn Hawkins both of Maywood, Illinois, Evie (Floyd) Young of Covert, Michigan, Ora (Ray) Harrison of Harvey, Illinois, and Betty (Dave) Thomas of Frankfort, Illinois.

Wake will be from 12 - 1 on Wednesday, December 30 at the His Place Cathedral of Faith Church in Covert. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the church.
