Georgia Mae's Obituary

Georgia Mae Cannon, age 91, of South Haven, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born June 6, 1918 to Robert and Florence (Brown) Henderson in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Georgia married Jesse Cannon November 9, 1935 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Jesse and Georgia were married for over 70 years. She worked at Michigan Fruit Canners in South Haven and Benton Harbor, and also worked at St. Joseph Yacht Club with her husband Jesse. Georgia was a member of Covert Community Church and sang in the choir. She was a loving and caring, sister, aunt and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jesse who died in 2007, three brothers- Phillip, Damon, Arthur, and five sisters-Prinella, Jesse, Catherine, Gladys, and Dolly, and a sister in law Laura Henderson.

She is survived by her sister Frances Johnson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, brother in law Rev. James Cannon of Gardina, CA, special cousin Josephine Watson of St. Louis, MO., many friends, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 12:00 P.M. at the Covert Community Church with Pastor Beverly Smith officiating. The wake will be prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will take place in Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor.
