Melvin Bennett's Obituary
Melvin Bennett Hiatt, 67, of South Haven died Monday, November 9 at South Haven Community Hospital.
He was born January 3, 1942 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Ben and Grace (Cooper) Hiatt. Melvin married Pamela Nelson on June 11, 1964 in South Haven, Michigan. Melvin worked for Bohn Aluminum as a molder for 27 years retiring in 1986. Melvin loved to be outside, hunting, fishing and gardening his vegetables.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years – Pamela Hiatt of South Haven, Michigan. Five children – Nicki Evans of Sarasota, Florida, Norman (Becky Leadingham) Hiatt, Annette (Mike) Riston, and Garnette (Rob Adkin) Hiatt all of South Haven, Michigan, and Melvin Hiatt Jr. of Sarasota, Florida. 10 grandchildren – Macey (Mark Hurn), Chloe, Hunter, Ashley, Mark, Brandy, Justin, John, Trevor and Hanah. One great granddaughter – Aubrie. Several brothers and sisters and step-brothers and sisters also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, November 13 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Memorial service will be Saturday, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Phillip A. Haner officiating.
