Alice Sadler

Alice Marie Sadler, 83, of South Haven formerly of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Hartford.



She was born July 11, 1926 in Watervliet, Michigan to Albert and Hazel (Yates) Becht. Alice grew up in the Watervliet and Coloma area and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1944. Alice married Paul Sadler on November 9, 1946. She worked for VM for 20 years as an inspector. She then worked 12 years as inspector for Michigan Fruit Canners, retiring in 1990. Alice enjoyed playing the organ, doing puzzles, especially word search, and sewing. Alice was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Coloma until she moved to South Haven, where she became a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. During the last 2 ½ years, Alice lived with her daughter and family in South Haven.



She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband, Paul who died in 1991, three brothers – Edison Becht, Albert Becht Jr., Ronald Becht and one sister – Violet VanErman.



She is survived by one son – Paul (Nancy) Sadler of Hartford, Michigan and one daughter – Nancy

(Michael) Schmid of South Haven, Michigan. 4 grandchildren - Eddie (Sarah) Sadler, Lina (Jeff) Stakley, Justin and LeeAnn Schmid. 5 great grandchildren. One sister – Mary Grant of Watervliet, Michigan.



Visitation will be Monday from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Schmid officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
