Treva Gladys Schatz Barron

Treva Gladys Schatz Barron, 79, of South Haven formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, died Saturday, July 4 at her home.

She was born September 10, 1929 in Cautheron, Arkansas to Frank and Ethel (Bretches) Myers. Treva worked as a truck driver for 13 years. After moving to South Haven, Treva did volunteer work at the Warren Center and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her first husband – Keith K. Schatz who died in 1978 and her second husband – Wilber Jerry Barron in 2001. Son – Ronald R. Schatz who died in 2003. Two brothers – Fred Eichorn and Frank Myers and sister – Mary Norman also preceded her.

She is survived by her son – Carl E. Schatz and his wife Martha of Bumpass, Virginia and daughter – Sheral Bradley and her husband Jim of South Haven, Michigan. Several grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. One brother – Floyd Bolin of Kansas City, Missouri. One sister – Frankie Byers of Waldren, Arkansas.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7 from 6-8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Graveside service will take place at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana on Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to We Care Food Pantry or South Haven’s Hospice at Home.
