Corrine's Obituary

Mother Corrine Trotter can be properly described as a godly woman who vigorously pursued a godly path toward a godly cause. Born August 15th, 1919 in Bourbon, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Hester Miller and Robert Henderson. She married John Trotter and to this union, two daughters were born. Corrine confessed Christ at an early age in the state of Mississippi where she was a hard farm worker. Later she moved to Chicago and strived hard to raise her two daughters making sure they had all their needs.

After the daughters reached adulthood, they extended their families and wanted a change from the city life to a more rural setting. This led to the purchase of a home in Pullman, Michigan. Mother Trotter moved here with eight young grandchildren serving as main sponsor of their educational and social upbringing. She worked in the community as a crossing guard for Bloomingdale Public Schools, child care provider, and as a laborer in the fruit fields of Michigan. She had a strong work ethic and expected the same from her children and any other children who came around.

Corrine joined Mt Calvary MB Church under the leadership of the late Rev William Bronson, and was a dedicated hard worker in every capacity. Later in 1980, she became a charter organizer of the New Hope M.B. Church with the late Rev. William McGee. She served faithfully on the Mother’s Board, supporting and sponsoring many programs in the upbringing of God’s kingdom.

Corrine Trotter was a very strong, determined Christian woman, very opinionated, and well known throughout the area. Her home was open to everyone; both children and adults. She lived a good life as role model for many; and was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, a brother, Charles Miller, three sisters, Alice Payne, Adella Haynes, Catherine Johnson, a son-in-law, Vernon Moragne, and grandson, James Moragne.

Her memory will be forever cherished by daughters: Darlene Moragne of Pullman, Ruby (Roy) Stanfill of Fennville, 13 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 14 great-great children, one special great grandchild, Chaquara Moragne, two special daughters; Maggie Mabone and Jessie Lowery, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and co-laborers.

Wake will be Saturday, May 9 from 12 – 1 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Pullman. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor Steppney Black officiating. Burial will take place at Lee Township Cemetery. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
