Martin's Obituary
Martin J. Sholes, 86, of Seffner, Florida, formerly of South Haven, died Friday, April 3 at his home in Florida.
He was born October 1, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Frank and Neva (Leach) Sholes. Martin served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He married Frances Elliott on June 30, 1945. Martin owned and operated the Sholes Dry Cleaners in South Haven for 30 years and loved his job. He was a former member of the South Haven Elks Club and St. Basil Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Frances Sholes who died in 1987. Sister – Betty Smith. Son-in-law – Alan Swank.
He is survived by his son – Bruce (Margaret) Sholes of Hudsonville, Michigan and daughter – Diane Swank of Seffner, Florida. Four grandchildren – Brian (Sarah), Breton (Suzzanne) Sholes and Alan Jr. and James (Julia) Swank. Eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a Rosary at 5:30. Funeral services will be Friday at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
