Retired Colonel Chaplain Jack Van Dyken, 90, formerly of Modesto, California died on January 9, 2009 at Clare Bridge in Portage, Michigan. Jack was born on November 6, 1918 in Edmonton Alberta, Canada to Fred and Kathleen (Sap) Van Dyken. Rev. Van Dyken served as a Chaplain in the United States Army. He also, served as a pastor in Forest Grove and Grand Rapids Michigan, Ripon and Modesto, California.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta (Westerhof) Van Dyken.

He is survived by his four daughters – Kathleen (Frank) Apotheker of South Haven, Michigan, JoAnne Dunlop and Bette (Dale) Dyksterhouse of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Connie (Raymound) Winfield of Gross Pointe Farms, Michigan and two sons – Chaplain Jack J. (Cathy) Van Dyken of Hawaii and Fred Van Dyken of Modesto, California.

Private family service will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with the Chaplain Jack J. Van Dyken officiating.
