Ruthie L.'s Obituary

Ruthie L. Bolden, 97, of South Haven died Wednesday, November 5 at Meadow Wood Nursing Home in Bloomingdale.

She was born October 8, 1911 in Bebranch, Arkansas to Edward and Artie (Davis) Bedwell. Ruthie married Jack Bolden on October 3, 1926 in Arkansas. She worked many years alternating between Sleepy Hollow Resort and Michigan Fruit Canners in South Haven. She loved her work, and made many friends at both places. Ruthie moved with her husband and daughters to Michigan in 1953. She enjoyed raising a garden, quilting, her home and good neighbors on Superior Street where she lived for forty-six years. She attended the Church of Christ. Ruthie’s greatest joy was her many grand children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Jack Bolden who died in 1991. Son – J.C. Bolden and daughter – Bobbie Lee Bolden.

She is survived by 3 daughters – Dorothy (Havis) King, Barbara (Gerald) Ransom and Mary (Ken) Watkins all of South Haven, Michigan. Daughter-in-law – Bernice Bolden of Caney, Kansas. 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Two sisters – Inez Covington of Sercy, Arkansas and Loretta Hawkins of Heber Springs, Arkansas also survive.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 on Sunday, November 9 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to donor’s choice.
