Mary Jean's Obituary
Mary Jean Moore, 63, of Dolton, Illinois formerly of South Haven, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, October 29, in Dolton, Illinois.
She was born July 12, 1945 in Wyatt, Mississippi to Obie and Anna Mae (Echols) Franklin. Mary was a great student who graduated with honors. She worked as a receptionist at University Hospital in Chicago for 30 years working for Dr. Rosenfield as a special assignment assistant. Mary was a longtime member of Immanuel Bethel United Church of Christ, under the direction of Pastor Raymond Bell, and was a life long bowler on the Messiah Mixed Bowling League, where she was a lead scorer.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by one sister- Annie Lara Madden, and three brothers- O.C. Echols, Raymond Richmond, and Billy Franklin.
She leaves to mourn her sister – Catherine (Pastor Lee) Perry of South Haven, Michigan and one brother – Obbie Franklin of Coldwater, Michigan; adopted brother- Earl Wheeler of South Haven, Michigan; God Son- Michael (Debbie) Appleby and their daughters Michiah, Phyllis and Toya; two special nieces and care attendants- Linda Echols of Memphis, Tennessee and Antoinette Perry of Dolton, Illinois; special great-niece Keyanna Perry; special friend- Alex; and a host of nieces and nephew.
A Homegoing Celebration will be Friday, November 7 at 1:00 P.M. at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. A wake will be held at the church from 12 – 1 prior to the service.
