Cleo's Obituary

Cleo Branch, 69, of Covert died Wednesday, August 20 at home.

She was born November 21, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee to Samuel and Clara Lillian (Scruggs) Crayton. Cleo graduated from the Lucy Flower High School in Chicago. Illinois. She then attended Olivr Harvey College in Chicago, Illinois where she studied nursing. Cleo married James Shabazz on February 23, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. Cleo and James owned and operated a grocery store in Chicago. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Cleo likes to travel and enjoyed shopping.

She is preceded in death by her father – Samuel Crayton, her siblings Annette and John Crayton and husband – James Aloyous Shabazz who died in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter – Doranna (Kenneth) Byrd of South Bend, Indiana. Her mother – Clara Lillian Robinson of Coloma, MI., Two grandchildren – Kenneth Julian Byrd and Davohn James Byrd. Four brothers – Kenneth (Sandra) Crayton of Bowling Brook, Illinois, Michael (Denise) Crayton of Coloma, Michigan, Samuel (Sandra) Crayton of Atlanta, Georgia and Harry P. (Charlotte) Crayton of Selmer, TN. Four sisters – Clara Robinson ( Henry Kensey) of Coloma, Michigan, Gerlene Gulley of Cleveland, OH, Janice A. Crayton of Corinth, MS., and Florine McLemore of Memphis, TN.
Godson – Steven Patten of Louisville, Kentucky. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Wake will be from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 with Pastor Tramel Wilson officiating. Burial will take place at Fish Cemetery. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
