Shirley Ann's Obituary
Shirley Ann Allen, 73, of South Haven died Wednesday, April 16 at Borgess Medical Center.
She was born January 28, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Matilda (Brodeak) Gallas. She graduated from South Haven High School in 1953. Shirley married Donald C. Allen on July 11, 1953 at the First Congregational Church in South Haven. Shirley worked as a service clerk for GTE for 38 years from 1951 – 1991. Shirley enjoyed craft work. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Donald Allen who died in 2002. Her brother - John Gallas in 1997.
She is survived by two daughters – Kathleen (John) Babor of Coloma, Michigan and Lori Jones of South Haven, Michigan. Two grandsons – Philip Babor and Anthony Jones and granddaughter – Ivy Jones. One sister – Dayla (Robert) McMullen of Aurora, Indiana Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 on Friday, April 18 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Fisher officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church.
