Fannie Pearl's Obituary

Fannie Pearl Saul, 91, Pullman, On the 27th day of March 2008, the angel of silence came into the halls of Metron of Allegan and with chilly fingers sealed the lips of Mother Fannie Pearl Saul. Mother Saul’s soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline Williams was born January 3, 1917 in the state of Mississippi, the youngest of nine children all of which preceded her in death. Fannie Pearl was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Johnny Jeff Saul, Sr., to this union five children were born. The children were reared with strict Christian discipline and doctrine by a quiet but firm Mother. Johnny Jeff Saul, Sr. her oldest son, preceded her in death on March 24, 2008. A grandson and a great-grandson also preceded her in death.
Mother Saul accepted Christ at an early age at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church serving as a faithful devoted church worker until her move to Chicago where she joined the United Missionary Baptist Church. Later she returned to Mississippi and joined the Pilgrim Grove Missionary Baptist Church in West Point.
After the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to Michigan with her daughter, where she became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Rev. William McGee and the present pastor, Rev. Steppney Black. She was serving dutifully on the Mother’s Board until her illness. Her favorite song was “Walk With Me” which she religiously sang when moved by the spirit.

Her memories will be forever cherished by: one son Paul Thomas (Alice) Saul of St. Louis, MO; daughters, Mary Humphrey of Chicago, IL., Maggie Harris MaBone and Caroline Norman of Pullman, MI; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Saul of West Point, MS.; special son-in-law, Jimmie (Toni) Norman of Chicago, Il.; play daughter, Elizabeth Sharpe of South Haven, MI.; Three sister-in-laws, Charlotte Watson and Martha Collins of West Point, MS., Mattie Mae Randle of Cedar Bluff, MS., twenty grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, a good friend Mother Corrine Trotter of Pullman, MI., and the New Hope Church Family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 P.M. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Pullman with Rev. Steppney Black officiating. Wake will be from 12 – 1 before the service at the church. Burial will take place at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, Mississippi.
