Virginia's Obituary
Virginia Lee Johnston, 79, of South Haven died Sunday, February 24 at her home.
She was born June 11, 1928 in Hazzard, Kentucky to George and Cora (Mullens) Ramsey. She married Allan “Jerry” Johnston. Virginia worked as a cook at area restaurants. She also worked at Everetts Piano Company for 15 years. Virginia was a member of the Church of Christ of South Haven.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Allan Johnston who died on March 10, 1979. Three brothers – Elva “Lucky” , Howard and George Jr. One sister – Patsey also precedes her.
She is survived by her daughter – Connie Johnston of South Haven, Michigan. One granddaughter – Colyn Johnston. Two sisters – Hazel James of Missouri and Pearl Russell of New York. Two brothers – Jack Ramsey of South Haven, Michigan and Lonnie Ramsey of Ludington, Michigan also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 28 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Holgar Newbauer officiating. Burial will take place at McDowell Cemetery Casco Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Hospice at Home or a trust for Colyn.
