Brita Brown Grover

Brita Brown Grover, 73, wife of Edward D. Grover of Rolling Hills Estates, California, died February 20 of the effects of a long illness.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin on August 16, 1934, Brita was the daughter of William J. Brown and Virginia Eby Brown. The family took up residence in South Haven in 1941. Brita graduated from South Haven High School in 1952 and was honored as valedictorian of her class. She was also crowned as Miss South Haven of 1952. She earned the bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1956 and, in 1959, the Master of Fine Arts degree at Yale. She worked in the theatre in New York City for a number of years, marrying fellow actor Edward Grover in 1965. Brita and her husband and two children moved to California in 1976, where Mr. Grover has pursued an extensive career in television. In recent years Brita was a regular visitor in South Haven, where she maintained contacts with old friends and supervised house renovation projects.

In addition to her husband, Brita is survived by her children, Edward Anthony Grover and Heidi Grover of Rolling Hills Estates, California; her brother, William J.T. Brown of New York City; her aunt, Mrs. Jacqueline Brown Clay of Westland, Michigan; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service was held at Green Hills Mortuary, Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on March 8. Memorial services will also be Monday, March 17, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church U.C.C. of South Haven with Rev. Harold F. Filbrandt officiating.
