Kenneth's Obituary

Kenneth Eugene Covey, 69, of South Haven died Wednesday, October 10, at home.

He was born October 5, 1938 in South Haven, Michigan to Clayton and Henrietta (Greenman) Covey. Kenneth graduated from South Haven High School in 1958. He married Millicent Lahndorf on December 13, 1958 at the First Assembly of God in South Haven. Kenneth served in the Michigan National Guard for 20 years. After high school Kenneth worked at Everett Piano Company and then as an assistant manager at the National Food Store. Kenneth then did his apprenticeship for sheet metal work in South Bend. From 1966 to 1994 Kenneth worked for the Sheet Metal Workers Union #20 and for Tri Angle Sheet Metal. Kenneth was a former member of the South Haven Moose Lodge. He attended the First Church of God in South Haven. He enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers. He loved to fix bicycles and enjoyed bowling, deer hunting and fishing. Kenneth loved to be with his grand children and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his brother Larry Covey who died in 1999. Brother-in-laws – Keith Stillson and Mike Warren.

He is survived by his wife – Millicent Covey of South Haven. Two sons – Rick (Patty) Covey and Tim (Julie) Covey both of South Haven. One daughter – Theresa (Rick) White of South Haven. 8 grandchildren – Chris, Jennifer, Matthew, Michael, Jillian, Timmy, Erin and Kelsey. 3 step-grandchildren – Matthew, Kelley and Jessie. 10 great grandchildren. Three brothers – James (Donnie) Covey of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Jerry (Judy) Covey of South Haven and Roger (Delores) Covey of Danielsville, PA. Two sisters – Elaine Warren and Joyce Stillson both of South Haven Sister-in-law – Joyce Covey of South Haven. Also surviving is his best friend, Karl Kosi.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 14 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Starks. Burial will take place at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
