Robert Webster's Obituary
Robert Webster Slentz, 79, of South Haven died Wednesday, September 12 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born June 16, 1928 in South Haven, Michigan to Wilmer Leroy and Marian (Webster) Slentz. Bob graduated from South Haven High School in 1946. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marian Morris on August 5, 1950 at St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. Bob worked as an Engineering Supervisor for GTE/Verizon for 33 years retiring in 1983. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and his family. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post # 49, Loyal Order of the Moose # 6976 and St. Basil Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his two brothers – Leroy and Harvey Slentz.
He is survived by his wife – Marian Slentz of South Haven, Michigan. Two children – Daniel Leroy (Kelly) Slentz of Schoolcraft, Michigan and Julie Elizabeth (Brian) Vaerewyck of Paw Paw, Michigan. Five grandchildren – Robert Slentz, Candice “Nicki” Solomon, Tegan, Kole and Lisa Vaerewyck. One sister – Helen (Ron) Schlaack of South Haven, Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Building Fund.
