Jerome Jerry O’Bryant, 70, of South Haven died Thursday, August 23 at South Haven Community Hospital.

He was born January 19, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Rose Lee (Thomas) O’Bryant. Jerome served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He married Dorothy Echols on May 26, 2000. Jerome worked at Lifesavers for 24 years retiring in 2004. He was presently working as a bus driver for Covert Public Schools and in maintains for the South Haven Police Station. Jerome was President of the Local Chapter NAACP. Jerome was a member of Emmanuel Community Church where he was a member of the Steward Board.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife –Dorothy Echols of South Haven. His children – Glenda Rose O’Bryant of Denver, Colorado, Jerome O’Bryant Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, Patrick, Katherine, and Eva O’Bryant all of Denver, Colorado. Step-children - William (Iona) Echols, Robert Echols both of Grand Rapids and Carlos Echols of Holland, Michigan.
Two sisters – Elaine Walker of Hazel Crest, Illinois and Barbara James of Chicago, Illinois. Two brothers – Arthur O’Bryant of Chicago, Illinois and Anthony O’Bryant of Las Vegas, Nevada. One Godson – Shaliman Muffof Grand Rapids, Michigan. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Wake will be Friday, August 31 from 11 – 12 at Emmanuel Community Church. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Maurice Harley officiating. Burial will take place at Covert Cemetery.
