Shirley's Obituary
Shirley J. Darling, 80, of South Haven died Tuesday, August 14 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
She was born May 14, 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Phoebe (Davis) and Walter Sicard. Shirley married Edward Darling on October 19, 1946 at the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church. Shirley worked at Wanks Furniture Store in South Haven for 20 years. She volunteered at We Care and for Hospice. Shirley loved to bake, cook, sew, camp and she lived for her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her son – Craig Jeffrey Darling who died in 1970. One sister – Mathildia and husband Herman “Pete” Kelley and one brother - Cortlandt Sicard also precedes her.
She is survived by her husband- Edward Darling of South Haven, son – Ronald (Dawn) Darling of South Haven, MI and daughter – Janet (Charles) Hazen of Charlotte, North Carolina. Two grandchildren – Samantha and Sarah Darling. One brothers – Ronald (Nadine) Sicard and sister-in-law- Harriet Sicard both of South Haven.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church with the Rev. Summer Gross officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
