Charles Arthur's Obituary

Charles Arthur Balasick, 76 of South Haven passed away on August 10, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born on August 31, 1930 in South Haven, Michigan to Ernest and Catherine (Overhue) Balasick. Charles was a graduate South Haven High School’s Class of 1949. Charles worked in the foundry and later in the machine/tool shop at Bohn Aluminum for a total of 42 years until his retirement. Charles obtained his pilots license around 1960 and has owned his own single engine plane since 1985. He also loved to play the organ and he liked tractors. Most of all he was a wonderful grandfather.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Adrienne Balasick, two sisters: Anna Bessemer and Dorothy Thompson and two brothers: Ernest Balasick and Valentine Balasick.

He is survived by his son - Scott Balasick of South Haven. One granddaughter - Brenna Brinks. One brother - Paul (Mae) Balasick of South Haven. Three sisters - Francis Johnson of Glendale, Michigan, Virginia Molinelli of Wheaton, Illinois and Millie Cheba of Grand Junction, Michigan.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00 A.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Rev Harold Filbrandt officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. Memorial contributions can be made to the family or to Epilogue Program in c/o Van Buren County Community Mental Health.
