John's Obituary
John Junior Bent Sr., 82, of South Haven died Thursday, August 9 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
He was born February 24, 1925 in Marcellus, Michigan to John and Edith (James) Bent. John graduated from Booko School in Marsellus. John worked as a bus driver for many years. John worked for Roth Lumber and then Miller Lumber in Kalamazoo. Later in life John delivered news papers for the South Haven Tribune. He also did some carpenter work and maintenance. John was a foster parent and enjoyed watching basketball and NASCAR.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Glenadine Bent. His granddaughter – Becky Young also precedes him.
He is survived by seven sons – Dan (Leddy) Bent of Three Rivers, Michigan, Duane Bent of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Joe, Phillip, and Paul Bent of Galesburg, Michigan, Michael (Chris) Bent of Lennon, Michigan and Johnnie (Wanda) Bent of Proctor, Arkansas. One daughter – Phyllis Bent of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister – Ellen Hershberger of Ohio and one brother – Don (Virginia) Bent of Three Rivers also survive.
