Hazel's Obituary
Hazel Irene Hodgman 92, of South Haven died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
Hazel was born February 6, 1915 in Shelby, Michigan.
Hazel was raised in the Kendall area and spent most of her life in the Kalamazoo area. She has resided at the Countryside Nursing Home. When she resided in Kalamazoo, Hazel was very active in the March of Dimes and Senior Services. Hazel enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling to northern Michigan and the upper peninsula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Hodgman, who died in 1977, and her parents Jacob and Ruth Mahieu.
Surviving are four children – Donald (Carole) Hodgman of South Haven, Michigan. Wayne (Linda) Hodgman of Middlebury, Indiana. Beverly Palma of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Linda (Steve) Davis of Springfield, Virginia. Seven grand children – Spencer Hodgman of South Haven. Nichole Lewis of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Angie Vermilion of Indianapolis, Indiana. Keith Hodgman of Middlebury, Indiana. Deborah Henningsen of Manassas, Virginia. Douglas Palma of Denver, Colorado and Dawn Sumner of Fairfax, Virginia. Ten great grand children also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, from 10 to 11:00 AM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Burial will take place in Robinson Cemetery in Bloomingdale Township.
