Rodger's Obituary
Rodger W. Irey, 69, of South Haven died Wednesday, April 4 at his home.
He was born May 24, 1937 in South Haven, Michigan to Edger and Frances “Polly” (Ely) Till. Edger passed away when Rodger was only five. Polly married Lyman Irey who adopted Rodger. Rodger served his country in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division in Germany as a paratrooper. Rodger worked as a carpenter until he retired. He had a passion for railroading along with archery and many other interests.
He is preceded in death by his father Lyman in 1984. Brothers Donald in 1955 and Frank in 2003, and his mother Frances in 2005.
He is survived by his brother - Robert (Marilyn) Irey of Conklin, Michigan and their sons, Mark and Todd Irey. He will also be missed by several cousins and friends including, Dennis Reinhardt, Mike Kane and family and Andy Appelhans and family.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 on Tuesday, April 10 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. John Fisher officiating. Burial will take place at Stephenson Cemetery in Casco Township. Memorial contributions can be made to Mary Free Bed Hospital in Grand Rapids or to the Cancer Society.
