Melvin's Obituary

Melvin Taie, 69, died on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at home in South Haven, Michigan. He was born on June 11, 1937 in Farmington, Michigan.

Melvin was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post #49 both in South Haven. Melvin served his country in the US Army. Melvin received his BS degree from Wayne State University and his MA from Univ. of Michigan. Melvin worked as Nuclear Health Physicist throughout his career retiring in 2000. Melvin worked at the Palisades Nuclear Plant, at Allied General Nuclear Services in Barnwell South Carolina, at the Savannah River Nuclear Plant and then at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore California. He also enjoyed playing tennis and traveling. Melvin was also a Kids Hope Mentor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Lillian Taie Dietrich and one brother; Raymond Taie.

Melvin is survived by his wife; Mary of South Haven, Michigan, one daughter; Karren (James) Wood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. two sons; Jon Taie of Charleston, South Carolina and Parker (Katie) Taie of Goose Creek, South Carolina. A sister, Elaine (Ernie) Layne of Medford, New Jersey. and his step-father; Edward Dietrich of South Haven, Michigan.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Peace Lutheran Memorial Garden.
