Georgia K. Freeman

Georgia K. Freeman, 91, of South Haven died peacefully at home Monday, January 29th, with her husband Phil Freeman by her side. Georgia was born March 19, 1915, in Hartford, Michigan, to George and Esther (Wise) Kime.

Georgia lived a full and amazing life. She was an industrious, loving, energetic, fiercely independent, and charitable woman. She worked as a Secretary for the Covert School System as well as a Business Administrator for the Hobart Sales and Service Company in Kalamazoo. In addition, she was active in the Democratic Party of Michigan and had the distinction of being a Delegate for the nomination of John F. Kennedy at the Democratic Convention in 1960. Georgia was member of the First Baptist Church of South Haven and a member of the Eastern Star. She and her husband Phil have contributed greatly to the Michigan Maritime Museum.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Sam Canonie. She is survived by her husband Phil Freeman of South Haven, a stepson Phil (Linda) Freeman of South Haven, and a stepdaughter Sue (Jim) Baar of Holland, Michigan. One sister, Ruth Selters, of Hartford, Michigan also survives. Georgia leaves behind in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their offspring. She made a difference in all of their lives.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Koller officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
