Jacob DeWinter

Jacob's Obituary

Jacob Peter DeWinter, 95, of Kalamazoo died Monday, December 11 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven.

He was born October 29, 1911 in Alamo, Michigan to Peter and Gertie DeWinter. Jacob married Marion Lewis on July 26, 1940 in Kalamazoo. Jacob worked as a filter plant supervisor for Crown Vantage for more than 30 years retiring on October 29, 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Marion DeWinter who died in 2001. One brother – Joe DeWinter and son-in-law – James Green in 1999 also precedes him.

He is survived by his daughter – Susan Green of Holland, Michigan and his son – Dr. Robert (JoLynne) DeWinter of Grand Junction, Michigan. Three grandchildren – Kimberly Green of Holland, Michigan, Derek (Jennifer) DeWinter of LosGatos, California and Kurt DeWinter of Henderson, Nevada. Four great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, at 1:00 P. M
at the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo with Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Sarhatt and Rev. Cal Mastin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Music Department of First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo or South Haven Area Hospice.

The family is being helped by the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of south Haven 637-0333.
