John A.'s Obituary
John A. Meyer, 90, of South Haven died Thursday, September 7 at Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw.
He was born April 29, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois to John C. and Mathilda (Dunker) Meyer. John married Pauline Lieske on May 29, 1938 in South Haven. John was a woodworker for S.E. Overton Company. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #697 where he was a past governor. He was a member of the VFW Post #667 and the American Legion Post #49. John had a great sense of humor. John was loved by all and was everybody’s grandpa.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Pauline Meyer who died in September of 2005 and daughter – Elizabeth Fleming in 1992 a sister and a brother.
He is survived by one son – Doug (Wendy) Meyer and one daughter – Barbara Marsh both of South Haven. Nine grandchildren-Gabrielle (John) Rachac, Damon Marsh, Lisa Fleming, Jimmy Fleming, Tammy Fleming, Garrett (Crystal) Meyer, Jason (Laura) Meyer, Courtney Meyer and Caleb Meyer. Twelve great grandchildren and one great great grand daughter. Several nieces and nephews also survived.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to Peace Lutheran Church or to the South Haven Moose Lodge #697.
