Robert's Obituary
Robert L. “Bob” Knapp, 81, of South Haven died Tuesday, July 18 at home.
He was born February 15, 1925 in South Haven, Michigan to Leslie and Ayliffe (Beatty) Knapp. Bob married Jean Ely on June 7, 1947 in Parchment, Michigan. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Bob worked as a charter bus driver for several years. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #49 in South Haven. Bob also enjoyed flying and boating.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by a brothers – Leslie Knapp and Ronald Knapp and sister – Martie Hinze.
He is survived by his wife-Jean Knapp of South Haven, Michigan, one son – Robert (Teri) Knapp of Ft. Meyer, Florida and one daughter – Deborah (Don) Jenks of South Haven, Michigan. 6 grandchildren – Michelle Knapp, Karah Hiscott, Christina Lauhan, Matthew Jenks, Timothy Knapp and Casey Knapp. 2 great grandchildren – Macy Jenks and Aiden Knapp also survive him.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 20 from 7 – 9 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Fisher officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Area Hospice or First United Methodist Church of South Haven.
