Helen Edith French

Helen E. French, 87, of Glenn, Michigan died Wednesday, July 12 at Holland Hospital.

She was born April 19, 1919 in South Haven to Ira and Mabel (Pratt) Morehead. Helen graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1937. She married Harold S. French on September 20, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida. Helen and her husband were Co-Owners of the Glenn Standard Station for 35 years retiring in 1984. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and collecting bells. Helen was a loving mother and grand mother.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Harold S. French who died March 5, 1991. Two sister – Marilyn Leedy and Doris Lake also precedes her.

She is survived by her children – Sara (Alvin) Gumpert of Hudsonville, Michigan, Connie(Craig) VanHekken of Holland, Michigan, David (Sandi) French of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Jo (John) Malbone of South Haven, Michigan and Richard (Gerry) French of Glenn, Michigan. 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. One brother – Stanley Morehead of Grand Junction, Michigan. Numerous dear friends also survive.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 15 from 12 – 1 at the First Baptist Church of South Haven. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor Jerry Koller and Pastor Milan Bittenbender officiating. Burial will take place at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church.
