Ima Ruth's Obituary

Ima Ruth Morrison, 72, of South Haven died Monday, July 5 at her home.

She was born September 1, 1933 in Trimble, Tennessee to Annice “Pauline” (Turner) and Thomas “Clifford” Keeling. Ruth married William “Bill” Morrison on December 11, 1954 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. As a young bride she was employed as a bookkeeper, a full-time homemaker when children came along, then as a marketing assistant at Do-It Corporation from which she retired. She also spent many years as a volunteer with South Haven Public Schools working with special-needs children. Additionally she volunteered innumerable hours to her church, generously using her many talents in any way needed including playing piano, teaching, directing theatrical and talent events, being a youth camp counselor, working extensively with genealogy, and serving in numerous auxiliaries within the church—always with her heart focused on serving our Heavenly Father.

Ruth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and possessed a very strong testimony of the Gospel. Along with her husband, they supported their two oldest daughters on missions to share the beliefs, hopes, and blessings of the Gospel which was a very integral part of her life.

Ruth is survived by her husband Bill Morrison of South Haven and four children, Nadine Moore (David) of Mesa, AZ, Paula Ballmer (Roger), of Olivet, MI, Charles Morrison of South Haven, MI, and Rebecca Lawson (Jeff) of Mackinaw City, MI, as well as nine grand children. Her surviving siblings include Thomas of AK, Jerry of CA, Oscar of NM, and Betty Stoeber, Linda Velasquez, Peggy Waters, and Darlene Keeling all of CO and her dear friend, Betty Toney
