Edward "Whity" Fred's Obituary

Edward F. “Whity” Florian Sr., 77, of South Haven, formerly of Chicago, died Sunday, June 25 at Lakeland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph.

He was born February 9, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Johanna (Pecht) Florian. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Whity married Elizabeth Hughes on December 23, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked for Nightway Transportation as a truck driver for 10 years retiring in 1987. Whity enjoyed watching televison especially old westerns and mysteries. He was a member of Bangor American Legion Post # 160.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his three brothers – Harvey, Raymond, and his twin, Willard Florian. Two sisters – Helen and LaVern.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Florian of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Edward (Betty) Florian Jr. of Ft. Mead, Florida, and David Florian of South Haven, Michigan. Four daughters – Pamala (Patrick) O,Marah 0f Chicago, Illinois, Linda (Don) Scott of Glenn, Michigan, Joyce (Anthony Borrelli) Bates of South Haven, Michigan and Kathleen (Thomas) Carey of Pullman, Michigan. Nine grandchildren – Stacy, Mary, Stephenie, Steven, William, Christopher, Sean, Iris and Crystal. Ten great grandchildren. Two sisters – Eleanor Florian of Bridgeview, Illinois and Loretta Newcouski of Burbank, Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 7:30 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Services will begin at 7:30 P.M. on Wed. with Rev. Richard Hughes officiating. Graveside services will take place at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Lemont, Illinois on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
