George Robert "Sonny"'s Obituary
George Robert “Sonny” Caldwell, 67, of South Haven died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1939 in St. Genieve, Missouri to Otto and Leatha (Moore) Caldwell. Sonny married Cora M. Horton on April 20, 1961 in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He worked as a senior operator of heavy equipment for the city of South Haven for 32 years retiring in 2001. Sonny was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in South Haven.
He is preceded in death along with his father, and his daughter – Tammy Georgette Caldwell who died in 1973 and a sister – Frankie Burns.
He is survived by his wife – Cora M. Caldwell of South Haven. Two daughters – Elizabeth Caldwell of South Haven and Teresa (Keven) Koch of North Pole, Alaska. 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mother – Leatha Caldwell of Bangor, Michigan. Two brothers – Donny Caldwell of Bangor, Michigan and William J. Caldwell of Plant City, Florida. Five sisters - Anna Mae Castaneda and Joanne Caldwell both of Holland, Michigan, Dee Osborn of Bangor, Michigan, Barb Wishon and Carlene Wishon both of South Haven, Michigan.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor William Meyers and Pastor Mick Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place at Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
