Alouch's Obituary
Alouch Whitfield Sr., 90, of Covert died Monday, May 16 at his home.
He was born May 16, 1916 in Quitman, Georgia to Symore and Mammie Lee (Garrison) Whitfield. Alouch worked for National Motors Casting Division in South Haven for over 20 years retiring in 1981. In his earlier years he was a boxer and worked on an alligator farm in Florida. He loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covert.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his first wife – Polly Mae Whitfield who died in 1973, second wife – Ollie Whitfield who died in 1982, his daughter – Elizabeth Whitfield, one great grandson, _________ and two great granddaughters – Keyena Wray and Kenena Gillespie. One sister – Mammie Lee Brooks and five brothers – Charles “C.D.” Whitfield, A. Mark Whitfield, Lee Hogie Whitfield, Samuel “S.B.” Whitfield and Lucius “L.C.” Whitfield.
He is survived by Four sons – Alouch “Al” (Norris) Whitfield Jr. of Buchanan, Michigan, Rev. William (Veronica) Whitfield of Muskegon, Michigan, Esau (Josetta) Whitfield and Mosses Whitfield both of Benton Harbor, Michigan One daughter – Carmen (Aaron) Richmond of Kalamazoo, Michigan. 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Four step-sons also survive. Two brothers – Henry Whitfield of Dixie, Georgia and Bobby “Red” Whitfield of Naples, Florida also survives.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 23 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Covert with Rev. Sherman McClain and Rev. Adrian Massenburg officiating. The wake will be at the church from 12 -1 prior to the service. Burial will take place at Covert Cemetery.
