Dorris's Obituary
Dorris V. ( Nelson) Thomson Dorris was born 11-16-21 in Chicago, Ill. And spent most of her life in South Haven Mi. She passed away 10-14-12 at her daughter Sherri's home in Otsego, Mi She was proceeded in death by her parent's Agnes and Harry Nelson, a sister Betty Lang, and nephew Bill Lang. Surviving is her brother Ron Nelson of Tavanere, Fl. Also her daughter Sherri L. Brazill of Otsego, Mi and a son T.J. Day of Fort Lauderdale Fl., step children Beverly Knous, and Larry Thomson, both of Petersburg, Ill. She has many nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. “Five generations” Dorris married L.W. ( Tom ) Thomson 4-11-50. Tom was in the Navy during World War Two, and they met on a blind date. They always took great care of each other, and had many fun times together, traveling, eating out with friends, boating and playing cards. Dorris had various jobs and enjoyed every one of them. She worked for the city in the main office, an aid on a special needs school bus for fourteen years. At the same time Sherri was a school bus driver and granddaughter was also an aid on a special needs bus in Otsego. Dorris was a veterinary assistant for Dr. fox for fourteen years and was a State Park Ranger for a while. She was a very fun loving person and had many friends and was very outgoing,humerous, and a practical joker. If you met her, you loved her. She and Dad did a lot of traveling through the Lions club. “she was given one of the highest awards” she always sent people little note cards, never missed a birthday card, loved to go to garage sales and was a wonderful oil and water color painter, and a china painter also. She even rode horses and cross country skied. She lived life to the fullest, and we will all miss her a great deal! We all loved her so much! Visitation will take place Saturday October 27 at 2:00 pm. with service at 3:30 Pastor Aarron Cobbs officiating at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven Mich. www.FilbrandtFFH.com where you can get directions and share your thoughts and memories. Dorris will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetary at a later time. Contributions may be made to the South Haven Humane Society (which Dorris helped start) Hospice of South Haven, or Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan Mi. Envelopes will be provided at the service.
