Christine Atkinson

God called Christine Atkinson, 64 of South Haven, home on December 12, 2012. She had been suffering from a long illness. Christine was born on September 23, 1948 in Bilysble Arkansas to Lenora Echols and Eddie Atkinson. Christine was very smart, intelligent, and a loving lady with a great spirit. She loved cooking for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Christine is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Atkinson, step-mother, Annie Mae Adkinson, son, Carl Echols, two brothers, Danny Adkinson and Vernon Lee Echols, sister, Lana Hall, two nephews, Robert and Kei’Shawn Echols.
Christine leaves behind a wonderful mother, Leorna Echols. She also leaves behind a beautiful daughter that never left her side when she needed her most Anitrius (Billy) Lewis Atkinson of South Haven. She also leaves two hardworking sons that also stood by her side. When she needed them Charles (Tracy) Echols of Kalamazoo and Antoine (Shawn) Atkinson of Holland. There are also four brothers that she left behind that were there for her also Harvery (Gwen) Jefferson of Lansing, Larry (Althea) Muff and Tommy Echols of South Haven, and Dickie Adkinson of LA. There are seven sisters that are also left behind that worked hard to keep her comfortable Maylene Echols of Las Vegas, Dorothy Mae Echols of Pueblo, Dorothy (Johnny) McComb of Benton Harbor, and Lisa Echols of South Haven, Patricia Brookins and Eddie (Mae) Adkinson of Atlanta, Felicia Adkinson of Benton Harbor. Christine also leaves eight beautiful grandchildren that will miss her dearly, Taquarius Atkinson, Keytra Lewis, Kitana Lewis, Jalen Echols, Jeffery Lewis, Charlse Echols Jr., Marcus Quinn, Makala Brown and one great-grandchild, Noah Atkinson. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends that love her and will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held on December 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Pastor Simon Harrington will be officiating.  She will be laid rest at the Covert Cemetery in Covert.
