Billy Ray Lawson

Billy Ray Lawson, 72, of Glenn, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Grace of Douglas Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born March 27, 1941 to Charlie and Irene (McKinney) Lawson in Julip, Kentucky. Billy was a simple southern man who enjoyed being with his family. He liked to fish and enjoyed playing pool and horse shoes. Billy drove trucks for thirty years before retiring.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters – Louise Powers, Linda Wilson, and Pauline Lester and four brothers – Starlin, Clem, Oscar, and Gene Lawson.

Billy is survived by his former spouse – Dawn Lawson of South Haven; two sons – Carl (Heather) Kasinger of Zeeland and Cody (Deana) Kasigner of Hesperia, Michigan; two daughters – Mary (Jason Ransom) Desplinter of South Haven and Mickey Bosch of Allegan; 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; four brothers – Ernie (Irma) Nicks of Saugatuck, Jack (Polly) Lawson of South Haven, Junior Lawson of Kentucky, and Glen Hill of Ohio; five sisters – Henrietta (Ron) Sawyers of Ohio, Kathy (Ed) Powers of Kentucky, Brenda (Earl) Moses of Kentucky, and Tammy Lawson and Nancy Taylor both of Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
