Arlene's Obituary

Arlene Verna Monacelli, 84, of South Haven, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. She was born January 24, 1929 to Daniel and Ida (Vendetta) Fiorito in Albion, New York. Arlene married Joseph Monacelli in Holley, New York on May 21, 1949. In 1966 they moved to South Haven where she worked for Pullman Industries (Brite-Trim) until her husband’s job took them back to New York.  In December 2005 they returned to South Haven to be closer to their children.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Joseph Monacelli on September 26, 2012 and brother-in-law Dominic DiMarsico.

Arlene is survived by her children – Doug (Vicki) Monacelli, Mark (Geralyn) Monacelli, Cheryl (Charlie) Hamlin all of South Haven, her sister – Virginia DiMarsico  of Rochester, New York, brother – Daniel Fiorito of The Villages, FL and sister-in-law Mary. Grandchildren: Michael, Adam, Christopher, Paul (Megan) and Jennifer Monacelli, Justin and Tyler Hamlin and great-grandson Dominic Monacelli. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlene was a strong Italian woman who could melt your heart with just one of her loving smiles.  She was so proud of her family and she loved to cook and bake and we will miss the delicious meals and cookies!  She also enjoyed bowling, reading romance novels, bingo and going to the casino.

Visitation will be Monday, August 12, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a Scripture reading at 7:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, August 13 at 11:00 AM at St. Basils Catholic Church with Father Ted Martin officiating. Arlene will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
