Jerrod Matthew Smith

Jerrod M. Smith, 23, of South Haven, MI passed away from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome at University of Michigan Medical Center on September 6, 2013.  He was born on November 27, 1989 to Terry and Debbie (Jerue) Smith Jr. in South Haven, MI.  Jerrod worked at Village Market during his high school years.  Jerrod graduated from South Haven High School in 2007. He then worked for Menard's in South Haven and for Lowe's in Kalamazoo.  Jerrod was currently employed at Challenge Manufacturing in Holland, MI.  Jerrod enjoyed playing his guitar, video games, wrestling and was a big time football fan.  Jerrod was also a standup comedian.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents - William Jerue, Terry Smith Sr. and Mary Smith.

Jerrod is survived by his parents - Terry and Debbie Smith Jr. of Lacota, one brother - Brady Smith of South Haven.  Grandmothers, Barbara Jerue of Pullman, MI and Chrystal Smith of South Haven.  His aunts - Janetta (Rick) Stain, LeeAnn (Boyd) Hicks, and Yvette Smith all of Kennett, MO.  His uncles - Doug (Karen Vanderpuyl) Jerue of Pullman, MI, Gary (Sharon) Jerue of Ravenna, MI, and Dan (Julie) Jerue of Coloma, MI.  Special friends - Jake Simmons and Lauren Glumm.  Several cousins also survive.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Casco United Methodist Church.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM .  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to ARDS Foundation, 3330 Dundee Rd.
