Alfred's Obituary

 

Alfred H. Blair, age 81, of Grand Junction died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home.  He was born in on June 27, 1932 in Coldwater, Mississippi the son of James and Keturah (Bourland) Blair.  Alfred married Velma Phillips on Nov. 23, 1949 in Hernandez,  Mississippi.  Alfred was a blueberry farmer for many years where he owned and operated Blair Farms.  At one time, he also worked at Pullman Industies, Michigan Blueberry Growers Association, Michigan Fruit Canners and Anderson Packaging.  He was also a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in South Haven.  Alfred loved playing his guitar.  

He was preceded in death by three sons - Michael, Ronnie and Ricky Blair. Also by his siblings - James Blair, Muriel Merdith, Betty Brown, Corniel Nance and Mary Watkins.

Surviving is his wife, Velma Blair.  Two sons - Reggie (Audrey Lambrecht) Blair of South Haven and Randy (Becky) Blair of Marcellus, Michigan. Daughter in law - Debbie Nelson of Eureka, Illinois  14 grand children and 24 great grand children. Brother - Larry Blair of Texas.  Three sisters - Shirley Hopkins, Bobbie Paul and Dottie Perry all of Lousiana.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 PM at the Filbrandt Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Schmid officiating.  Alfred will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven.   The family requests any memorial contributions be made to his church.
