Jack's Obituary
Jack M. Ramsey, 83, of South Haven, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home. He was born July 13, 1930 to George and Cora Lee (Mullins) Ramsey in Judsonia, Arkansas. Jack wore many hats through life and worked construction as a heavy equipment operator for Canonie Construction for many years. He was a mechanic, truck driver and owned the Gulf Station on Broadway Avenue. He married his wife of 63 years, Naomi (Warner) Ramsey on November 12, 1950 at the South Haven First Baptist Church. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and puttering in his garage. Jack was a member of the Lakeshore Church of Christ on M-140.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by son in law – Jerry Pendergrass; 2 great-grandsons – Jackson Stewart and Christopher Ramsey; great-granddaughter – Isabell Stewart; siblings – Hazel James, Junior, Elva “Lucky”, Patsy, and Howard Ramsey, Virginia Johnston, and Pearl Russell.
Jack is survived by his wife – Naomi Ramsey; children – Wes (Diane) Ramsey of Orleans, MI, Tom (Deb) Ramsey of Niles, and Sue Pendergrass of Holland; four grand children – Heather Ramsey, Susan (Dain) Stewart, Brandon (Melissa) Ramsey, and Charles Pendergrass; brother – Lonnie Ray Ramsey of Traverse City; two great grandchildren – Alex Pendergrass and Irene Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Lakeshore Church of Christ with Mr. Holger Neubauer officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to the Helen Devos Children Hospital, 100 Michigan Street NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.
