Joanne's Obituary

 

Joanne Betty Kurczaba, 88, of South Haven died Wednesday, January 15, at River Ridge Retirement Community.  She was born on April 12, 1925 to Robert and Margaret (Baumhardt) Ayers in Detroit, MI.  Joanne had been a teachers aid for autistic children in the Cincinnati School District until her retirement.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of South Haven and the Red Hat Society.  Joanne volunteered for the  South Haven Community Hospital auxiliary for many years.  She loved gardening, reading  and walking on the Lake Michigan beach. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Edward Kurczaba and her brother - Bob Ayers.

Joanne is survived by her children - Nancy (Ken) Myers of Woodville, OH, Janet Kurczaba of Phoenix, AZ and Joan Kurczaba of Santa Rosa, CA.  Six grandchildren - Jessica Ard, Shawn (Nicole Pondell) Hardy, David (Linn Thorburn) Hardy, Ryan Hardy, Amy Myers, and Lindsey Myers. Three great-grandchildren - Kathryn Ard, Kinsley Ard and Mikai Hardy.

A memorial service with graveside committal will take place on  Friday, January 17, at 10:30 A.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven with Pastor Devon Herrell officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of South Haven or South Haven Health System Auxiliary.
