Christine's Obituary
Christine Brennan, 82, formerly of South Haven, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Centreville, MI. She was born March 21, 1931 to George and Mary (Kalakis) Davidonis in Chicago, Illinois. Christine married her husband of 59 years, Charles W. Brennan, on February 16, 1952 in Decatur, MI. Christine was employed as a school teacher at the Westgate School in the early 1950s. She also was a secretary at Central School in South Haven, worked at a local ophthalmologist and was a registered realtor. Christine was a loyal and devoted friend and wrote her Australian pen-pal for over fifty years. Christine traveled extensively in her life including to Australia, England, Ireland, and Greece as well as all over the United States. Christine was interested in genealogy and did extensive research on her family tree before computer research became the norm. She was also a fabulous baker and was willing to share her time and recipes in the kitchen.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Charles W. Brennan and three brothers – Benedict, Daniel, and Alexander Davidonis.
Christine is survived by her children – Jeffrey (Denise) Brennan of Van Meter, Iowa and Kimberly (David) Booko of Three Rivers. Three grandchildren also survive – Joshua and Zachary Brennan and Brenin Booko.
Christine’s final request was that her life should be celebrated rather than memorial services held. Memorial contributions may be made in Christine’s memory to the South Haven Historical Association – Light House Preservation.
