John Hio Bus

John H. Bus, 91, of South Haven, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born August 7, 1922 to Hio and Lela (Dykstra) Bus in South Haven.  John served his country in the Army during World War II. John worked in the mill room for the Everett Piano Company for many years.  John enjoyed bow hunting. John also enjoyed maintaining his home and woking in the yard. He married his wife of 49 years – Ruth (Hodge) on June 14, 1946. John was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in South Haven.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Ruth Bus who passed in 1995; two brothers – Bob and Dick Bus.

John is survived by his daughter – Sandi (Don) Johnson of South Haven; brother – Ed (Shirley) Bus of South Haven; step-grandchildren – Lori and Rex Coombe and David and Cindy Johnson. 18 nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. John will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in John’s memory to Hope Reformed Church of South Haven or the American Cancer Society.
