Marie G Overhiser

Marie G. Overhiser, 90, of South Haven, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehab Community. She was born May 9, 1923, to Fred and Hazel (Knudeson) Roper Sr. in South Haven, Michigan. Marie was raised by her father and stepmother, Anna Marie. Marie graduated from South Haven High School in 1941 and later worked at Arkins in South Haven for 32 years prior to its closing. Marie was a member of the Casco United Methodist Church. At one time, Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed working on puzzles. She was also a volunteer with the South Haven Hospital Auxiliary and the Casco Ladies Aid.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon W. Overhiser and her brother Fred Roper Jr., and her sister Lavern Bild.

 She is survived by her children, Diane (Jose) Turanzas of South Haven, Michigan, Shirley (John) Harvey of Oakley, Illinois, Daniel (JoLynn) Overhiser of Holland, Michigan, and Ronald (Vanessa) Overhiser of South Haven, Michigan, and her sister, Mary (Dave) Guminski of San Diego, California. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren - Miguel, Edward, Christopher, Andrew, Elizabeth, Emily, Alley, Abby, and Mitchell, and 2 step grandchildren - Queta and Joe

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Private graveside services will be scheduled at a later date. Marie will be laid to rest in McDowell Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Marie's memory to the Casco United Methodist Church, 880 66th Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
