Edward's Obituary

Edward Eugene Geier, 74, of Grand Junction died on Monday, June 2 at his home.  Ed was born on April 30, 1940 in Madison, WI to Nestor and Marcella (Gorman) Geier.  He was preceded in death by his parents.He was a graduate of South Haven High School and attended Western Michigan University.  Ed worked for 36 years at Bohn Aluminum until the plant closed in 1997.  Ed never missed a day of work. In retirement, he worked at various golf courses in Michigan, Florida and Arizona.

Ed dearly loved his home state of Wisconsin, the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers.  He enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events and attended as many as he could, even in ill health.  Ed also enjoyed playing golf, travelling with his wife, and watching re-runs of old shows like the Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke and The Three Stooges. He was very proud of his family. Ed had a terrific sense of humor.  His great-nephew, Pete, said “When Uncle Ed goes to heaven he will be the main comedian!” He was a faithful member of St. Basil Catholic Church.

Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (Pobuda) Geier of Grand Junction, MI; daughter Bobbie (Dave) Otto of South Haven, MI; sons Michael (Kris) Geier of Naperville, IL and Jeffrey (Jill Fowler) Geier of Lacota, MI; brothers John (Joy) Geier of Holland, MI and Charles Geier of South Haven; sister Bobbie Geier of Richland, MI; grandchildren Ryan (Emily) Otto, Erin (Matt) Pielin, Collin and Jilian Geier; and great grandson, Noah Otto.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4th at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited held at 7:30 p.m.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5th at St. Basil Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Fr. Robert Flickinger officiating.  Ed will be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Gardens.  Memorials can be made to Saint Basil Restore the Glory and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and mass intentions.
