Edna Clara Bartholomew

Edna Clara Bartholomew, 86, of South Haven, died Sunday June 22, 2014 at the Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph, MI. She was born October 13, 1927 to August and Donna (Maynard) Bierhalter in South Haven. Edna graduated from South Haven High School in 1946. She was married to John Bartholomew on July 26, 1947 in South Bend, IN. Edna was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven. Edna was a Blue Bird and Campfire Leader. Edna was former president of the Auxiliary of our local VFW and American Legion and former state president of the Auxiliary of the American Legion.  Edna was an active volunteer including the hospital, American Legion, and VFW.  Edna organized and led the Bingo activities at the American Legion

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband of 53 years – John Bartholomew who passed in 2000; two brothers – August Bierhalter, Jr. and George Bierhalter; three sisters – Trersia Marshall, Margaret Bierhalther, and Florence Bierhalter.

Edna is survived by her daughter – Sandra (Larry) Lute of Coloma; two grandchildren – John (Jodi) Lute and Jennifer (Scott) Williams both of Coloma; seven great grandchildren – Zane, Brendan, Kaitlynn, Royce, Grace, Devin, and Chloe; siblings- Bertha (Duane) Dewey of Irons, MI, Lester Bierhalter of Grand Junction, and Philip (Vivian) Bierhalter of South Haven.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating. Edna will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bartholomew family in Edna’s memory.
