Verlah's Obituary
Verlah M. Bieler, 97, of South Haven, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the River Ridge Retirement Community. She was born September 29, 1916 to Claude and Grace (Frost) Clawson in Martin, Michigan. Verlah married her husband – Eugene Bieler on December 31, 1941 in Douglas, MI. Verlah enjoyed sewing and painting pictures with water colors. She especially enjoyed tending her roses and spending time with her grandchildren. Verlah was a past president of the South Haven Scott Club and was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of South Haven.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband of 57 years – Eugene Bieler; son – Gerald Bieler; sister – Dorothy Clark.
Verlah is survived by her daughter – Janice (Robert) Peterson of South Haven; brother – Rex (Ann) Clawson of Jenison; Four grandchildren – Ryan Bieler, Justin (Courtney Allison) Bieler, Erika (Tom Santini) Peterson and Adam Peterson; one great grandchild – Owen Bieler; daughter-in-law – Cheryl Bieler.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the First Congregational Church UCC in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the church with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Verlah will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in Verlah’s memory to the First Congregational Church UCC Building Fund, 651 Phoenix Road, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
