Thomas's Obituary
Thomas P. Neal, 72, of Grand Junction, Michigan passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at the South Haven Health Systems. He was born September 15, 1941 to Belmont and Lucille (Angers) Neal in Bay City, MI. Thomas began working for Consumers (Power) Energy in Essexville, MI in 1961 and after a short time in Jackson, MI along the way retired after 40 years from the Palisades Plant, South Haven, MI in 2001.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law – Chuck Weller.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 48 years – Lou Ann (Young) Neal of Grand Junction, MI; two brothers – James (Diane) Neal of Bay City, MI and Richard (Diane) Neal of Greensboro, NC; two sisters – Julie (Ken) Dardas and Debra Neal both of Bay City, MI; sister in law – Nancy Weller of Bay City, MI and a host of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Tom was up early most mornings and out the door to have coffee/soda with the gang whether he was in Michigan or South Carolina. Tom loved to hunt deer (which he was very successful at), geese, duck and was fortunate enough to take his dream trip to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1993 to hunt mule deer and antelope as well as many trips to Iowa/South Dakota hunting pheasants with his dog Irish (sometimes called Red). Tom also loved to fish for salmon in the “big lake”, as well as perch, and ice fish the smaller local lakes for blue gills. Tom loved riding his motorcycle and was instrumental in getting numerous others interested in riding. Tom also enjoyed getting together with friends to play golf in Michigan and got to play many beautiful courses in Myrtle Beach, SC while spending winters in that location after retirement.
Also, while in South Carolina he enjoyed sitting on his third floor porch on the Intercoastal Waterway, having his evening cocktail and watching the “world of boats and watercraft” go by.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
